Hearts a Flutter

What inspires you? Where does your inspiration come from? For me, it might be a sketch challenge or a photograph. For color inspiration, there is nothing like a color challenge, and this week there is a wonderful one over at Create With Connie & Mary.

For me, inspiration is all around, and in this case, it was on page 11 of the Stampin' Up! Occasions 2013 catalog. There is an adorable framed chalkboard, and here is my interpretation in paper!

Here's the recipe~
  • Stamps ~ Hearts a Flutter, Delightful Dozen
  • Papers ~ Whisper White, Basic Black, Pool Party
  • Inks ~ Basic Gray, Primrose Petals, White Craft ink, Versamark
  •  Accessories ~ Big Shot, Hearts a Flutter framelits, Artisan Embellishment kit, White embossing powder, sponge dauber, white colored pencil, stampin' dimensionals
This is one of the cards we made at a recent class that featured several new products in the catalog, and of the three cards we made, this was the favorite!  To get the chalkboard look, we added a white line with a colored pencil and lightly sponged some white craft ink to give the look of chalkboard smudges.  What do you think?

Thanks for visiting today!  I hope you were inspired!

Blessings,
Barbara

Madison Avenue and Vine Street

Happy Saturday, and welcome to my blog! Grab your cup of coffee and check out the card I created for this week's Utah Divas International sketch. You can find links to all of the cards and designers here. This month's sketches were designed by team member Elizabeth Harris. Hasn't she done a fabulous job with the sketches? Here is the sketch for the week, DIVASC225.

And here is my card! It uses some sweet things from the Sale-a-Bration catalog! (Products marked with * were free!)

Here's the recipe~
  • Stamps ~ Madison Avenue*
  • Papers ~ Whisper White, Raspberry Ripple, Pretty in Pink, Lucky Limeade
  • Inks ~ Pretty in Pink, Lucky Limeade
  • Accessories ~ Lucky Limeade ruffled ribbon, Vine Street embossing folder*, Big Shot
This is also part of a color challenge over at Create With Connie & Mary, CCMC236.  Isn't it a great combination?

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great weekend, and I'd love to hear your comments before you go!

That's the Ticket!

Happy Saturday, and welcome to my blog! I am back from a wonderful Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida!  One highlight of the trip was my first Manager's Reception at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.  I read all of the books and actually have two copies signed by J.K.Rowling when she visited a local bookstore several years ago!  They are certainly two of my most treasured books.

Grab your cup of coffee and check out the card I created for this week's Utah Divas International sketch. You can find links to all of the cards and designers here. This month's sketches were designed by team member Elizabeth Harris. And here is the sketch for the week, UDISC224.

It was so much fun to play with some of the new products in the spring catalog!  Here's the card I came up with.
Here's the recipe~

  • Stamps ~ That's the Ticket
  • Papers ~ Pool Party, Very Vanilla, More Amore DSP, Pool Party Core-dinations paper
  • Inks ~ Primrose Petals, Real Red, Pretty in Pink, Pool Party, Basic Gray
  • Accessories ~ Ticket Punch, Fancy Fan Embossing Folder, Stampin' sanding block
Can you tell I love the More Amore DSP?  I used it on my card two weeks ago and am well on my way through my second pack.  I popped the Real Red ticket up on dimensionals and add a touch of dazzling details to the heart so it has some shimmer and sparkle to it.

Well, I'm going to keep this short and sweet!  Thanks for stopping by, and please know that I love to read your comments!

Blessings,
Barbara

Love You!

Happy New Year!  I took the last two weeks off from blogging in order to spend time with family.  What a wonderful Christmas we had!  My husband and I were able to be together with all of our children and grandchildren, even if it only lasted for 48 hours before the first couple had to leave.  We had a very special gift this year, a new granddaughter born on December 19 ~ Charlotte Noelle!  It was a very special time for this grandma.  I was able to cuddle and hold Charlotte when she was only hours old!  Since all of the grandchildren are 800 miles away in Michigan, we have only seen three of them on the day they were born.

Grab your cup of coffee and check out the card I created for this week's Utah Divas International sketch. You can find links to all of the cards and designers here. This month's sketches were designed by team member Elizabeth Harris. And here is the sketch for the week, DIVASC222.

Today I was playing with some items from the new Occasions mini catalog, and I was inspired by what was out on my table.  You may end up looking at this sideways!  (I don't want to tell you how much time I just wasted!)

Here's the recipe~
  • Stamps ~ Greeting Card Kids, Itty Bitty Banners
  • Papers ~ Real Read, Baja Breeze, Watercolor paper, Very Vanilla, More Amore DSP
  • Inks ~ Black Staz-On, Primrose Petals, Read Red, Soft Suede, Blush Blossom marker
  • Accessories ~ Big Shot, Bitty Banners Framelits, aquapainter, Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch 2 1/2 " circle punch
To make the edging, I punched an 11" strip of the ribbon border.  I snipped into it so that I could shape it around the edge of the circle.  It actually puts little pleats in the paper!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope to have a post ready before I head to Orlando for Leadership next week, but you never know.  I am feverishly working on swap commitments, so I have to see how that goes.  I am really geeked about Manager's Reception at Harry Potter World on Thursday night!  We have three hours with no one but SU! demonstrators there.  I've sure it will be amazing!

Thanks for taking the time to leave comments.  I love to read the nice things you have to say.

Blessings,
Barbara

P.S.  Here's a picture of me and Charlotte!
